6 Things to Love About a Family Vacation at The Lake

Taking a family vacation at the lake is one of the best ways to connect with your family. No matter what you want your activities to include, the lake offers all of that and more and guarantees a great time, both enjoying and connecting with your family.

The Road Trip: A road trip is one of our favorite parts of a family location spent at a lake. Packing up the car with only the necessities and getting the kids geared up can be a challenge, but once all is packed you can set off on the road, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the winds and twists of the road. We suggest stopping along the way if your trip is longer to gaze at the beautiful landscapes or to explore new parts of your trip.

Limited Wireless Signal: No wifi? No problem. A lake vacation wasn’t built for the constant use of electronics anyway. This is the perfect opportunity to pry the tablets and the phones from your kids (and significant other’s hands) and use that valuable time to spend connecting one-on-one with your family.

Family Connection: Speaking of connecting, it’s not only phones and tablets that can distract the family but work stress, television, homework, school sports practices and more. A lake vacation is the perfect escape from the stress of everyday life that allows you to strengthen the bond with your kids and significant others and invest time.

The Water: Whether it’s kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, or even taking the fishing poles, the lake offers great opportunities for water-based activities that you may not be able to experience where you live. Make sure to stock up on bathing suits, water floats and more for the kids before you head out.

Camping: If you’re looking to truly immerse yourself in the great outdoors during your lake vacation, choosing to camp at the lake is a perfect idea. Having your kids help you set up the tent and arrange your campground is a great family-bonding and building activity.

Getting Down to Earth With Nature: There’s something to be said about immersing yourself fin the beauty of nature. Because a lake vacation offers something for everyone to do (hiking, boating, camping and more), there are tons of ways to immerse yourself and your family in nature and teach your kids appreciation for the great outdoors.

There are so many reasons to love a lakeside family vacation. No matter what you want your activities to include, the lake offers all of that and more and guarantees a great time, both enjoying and connecting with your family.

Great points and I agree with all of them. I don't think people realize how much of their stress is related to their surroundings. My favorite places are those getaways like the lake or forest, where I don't have to be overloaded by issues in everyday life. The only two things I panic about not having when away is toilet roll and a tin opener, ha!

Yes, I remember racing sticks down a stream and trying to keep up with them.

Family walks in nature can be fun and interesting with a little imagination. We regularly go off for nature walks and they are so uplifting and great at destressing us all, including the children. I wish I could spend a whole summer like that, it would be great!

Such a beautiful place to make memories. My family and I love these sort of breaks but I have got family members that wouldn't hack it, they have no imagination and have to be entertained, with out them putting any effort in to it.
