Lake Side Honeymoon Destinations

There is just something about a lakeside area that is beautiful, even idyllic for a honeymoon destination. Resorts and cabins along serene waters are often designed specifically to cater to your romantic getaway, and you can choose to be as secluded as you like for private times, but a bustling city or a quaint little town is usually not too far away.

Lakeside Honemoon Destinations

Lake Saranac, New York
On the shore of Lake Saranac in the state of New York, you will find The Point. This is a carefully designed 11-unit lodge, which was once owned by the Rockefeller family. Each room is quaintly decorated with antiques and lovely details that make it feel romantic, cozy, and absolutely perfect. The small resort is located on a rocky cliff that makes a perfectly romantic site for your wedding ceremony, or you can escape to this The Point to get away from it all and celebrate your union.

Lake Huron, Michigan
The Grand Hotel, featured in the 1980 romance, "Somewhere in Time", is a popular site for weddings and for honeymoons. Located on Mackinac Island, it can be reached by ferry from a number of spots in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Not only is the hotel itself romantic and beautiful, the entire island offers a quaint ambiance, with transportation offered only by horse and carriage or by bicycle. You and your new wife or husband can spend the days walking the little streets, stopping in at fudge shops or visiting the butterfly garden on the island.

Branson, Missouri
There are three lakes featured in Branson, Missouri: Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake. While water sports and fishing are abundant here, this is a city that has been designed to attract honeymooners as well. Resorts and private cabins can be found along the shores of each of these expansive lakes, and if you want to marry in Branson, there are lots of options for wedding venues as well. You'll find all the privacy you want, and when you are ready to step out into the public, you will find ample places to enjoy the nightlife with lots of choices for live music, dining, dancing and shopping.

Lake Region, Pocono Mountains
The Pocono Mountains are a scenic area of Pennsylvania where a great deal of focus has been put on the honeymoon industry. Whole resorts are dedicated to weddings and honeymoons with large amounts of attention being paid to every romantic detail. In the lake region, you will find more than 100 lakes, streams, rivers and ponds. Many of these honeymoon resorts and cottages nestle up against the shores of these beautiful waterways, giving you a lovely view, lots of options for water sports and boating activities, and promising one romantic evening after another.
