Vacation Beautiful Wisconsin
For outdoor lovers, adventure is just a short drive from Milwaukee and Chicago to southeastern Wisconsin. Home to beautiful Geneva Lake and other renowned bodies of water like Lake Como and Shawano Lake, southeastern Wisconsin affords visitors lots of excitement. On its scenic lake shores, there’s cycling, hiking, golfing—even ziplining. On the water, there’s even more fun available, from fishing and swimming to parasailing and water skiing.
Water Sports for Lake Enthusiasts
Those interested in a lake vacation filled with lots of water sport will love the resort town of Lake Geneva and its surrounding environs. Lake enthusiasts can enjoy a relaxing cruise on the town’s namesake. They can also rent all manner of watercraft—including fishing boats. Fishing trips led by professional guides familiar with the waters, the fish and the best lures are also available.
Nearby Shawano Lake, a warm water fishery, contains a variety of species of interest to serious fishers, including musky (northern pike), largemouth bass and walleye. Shawano Lake also contains many types of panfish, such as bluegill, black crappie and yellow perch.
To arrange a professionally guided musky hunt on Shawano Lake, contact OutCast Musky Outfitters at (920) 309-1608. Musky hunting with an expert guide from OutCast guarantees a great day of fishing and a wonderful opportunity to learn tips and techniques for catching more fish. Not only does OutCast Musky Outfitters provide professionally guided musky hunts, but it also sells custom musky lures.
Other Outdoor Fun
Of course, not all of the outdoor fun in southeastern Wisconsin happens on the water. Some of it happens on the ice! In fact, Lake Geneva is the iceboat capital of the world, offering visitors the opportunity not only to ice fish but also to sled and skate during the winter months.
The Geneva Lake area is also a great place for cycling. Each September, cyclists meet for the Fat Tire Memorial Tour of Geneva Lake held in memory of local sports enthusiasts Tim Hibbard and Krissy Zadler, who passed away in a car accident in 1997.
The 21.5-mile ride, much of it affording gorgeous views of Lake Como and Geneva Lake, begins at Champ's Sports Bar & Grill and includes eight other "rest stops" at sponsoring taverns. Participants may preregister by Sept. 8 for $35 or pay $40 on the day of the tour.
Greenwood Bait & Tackle is a one stop shop for your fishing gear needs. They have recently added hundreds of new items to their already extensive selection. Pricing is also very competitive. They will beat any competitor's prices, and if you don't see what you need, they will order it for you! Every month Greenwood Bait & Tackle has contests, check out their website for the latest.
