For lake enthusiasts, some of the finest lakes in the USA are in
Colorado. Six of the best make up Colorado's own "Great Lakes":
Grand Lake, Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, Monarch Lake,
Meadow Creek Reservoir and Willow Creek Reservoir. Grand Lake is
definitely the grandest of the six, the largest (and deepest)
natural lake in the state. Located near Rocky Mountain State
Park, Grand Lake is set within the charming, Wild West-style
mountain town with which it shares its name.



Colorado's Blue Mesa Reservoir is also large. In fact, it's the
largest manmade lake entirely within Colorado. Blue Mesa is also
the biggest trout and Kokanee salmon fishery in the continental
U.S. A reservoir on the Gunnison River, Blue Mesa is located in
the Curecanti National Recreation Area, which is known for its
stark, awe-inspiring geography and fjord-like mountain lakes.
