Elephant Butte Reservoir, New Mexico


Elephant Butte Reservoir is located on the Rio Grande River just north of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Part of the Rio Grande Project, it provides power and irrigation to south-central New Mexico as well as west Texas. Not only is Elephant Butte the largest reservoir in the state, but it's also part of the largest state park, which is named after it. Boating, waterskiing, and swimming are popular activities at the lake, as is fishing for bass, catfish, and walleye.
