Jewit Lake, Oregon
Jewit Lake is located north of Portland, Oregon, on Government Island in the Columbia River. The island, which is accessible by boat only, is home to the Government Island State Recreation Area, which offers primitive camping as well as excellent bird and wildlife watching opportunities. Lake Jewit is one of the island's protected natural areas. Many endangered/threatened wildlife species live there, including the red-legged frog, bald eagle, peregrine falcon, and several species of grebes and flycatchers.
